Morton’s Neuroma: Causes, Symptoms & Treatment

What Causes Morton's Neuroma?

Although the exact cause is not always clear, factors that may contribute include:

  • Wearing tight or narrow shoes and high heels
  • Repetitive pressure from running or other high-impact activities
  • Certain foot conditions, such as bunions or toe deformities

Common Symptoms To Watch For

Symptoms often include burning pain in the ball of the foot, tingling or numbess in the toes, and discomfort that worsens when walking or wearing tight footwear.

How Is It Treated?

Treatment may include wider, supportive shoes, custom orthotics, or injections. Surgery may be considered if symptoms persist despite conservative treatment.
